The Republic of Panama participated in the X Business Summit China-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) held in the city of Tangshan, Hebei Province.
Begun in 2007, this summit is the first mechanism for economic promotion and trade cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and this year the theme, "working together on innovation for cooperation mutual benefit" developed two segments: parallel development sessions and exhibition of industrial cooperation.
This important event, key for trade and economic relationship between China and LAC countries, was attended by the President of Uruguay, Tabare Vazquez, Ministers and Deputy Ministers of LAC countries, diplomats and trade representatives LAC accredited in China, representatives of international organizations, financial institutions, more than 1500 local and LAC entrepreneurs, among others.
The Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Li Yuanchao, expressed welcome President Xi Jinping and noted that projects in energy and resources, infrastructure construction, agriculture, manufacturing and information technologies and communication are priorities for China in its cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean, also stressed the "complementarity" between the second largest economy and Latin America.
The Panamanian delegation, composed of the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Nestor Gonzalez, Representative of the Panama China Trade Development Office, Honorable Any Lam Chong L., and Deputy Representative Nehemías Jaén, held talks tables in investment policies of trade between the two regions, and to evaluate market opportunities and cooperation of mutual benefit.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Néstor González, participated in parallel session of investment in urbanization, infrastructure and sustainable development. He devoted his speech upon the projects and infrastructure development and urbanization of the Government of the Republic of Panama, and in depth on commercial view with the Panama Canal.
Upon completion of the discussion session, he held bilateral with Vice President of CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade), Wang Jinzhen, seeking to strengthen trade and economic relationship of both, emphasizing cooperation win-win.
Moreover, in the Exhibition of Industrial Cooperation featured Panama represented by the Panama China Trade Development Office, promoting the economic, commercial, cultural, tourism development, free zones, laws incentive for multinationals, among others prospects of Panama.
The next 11 China-LAC Business Summit will be in Uruguay.
